Plymouth Wave environmental march and rally takes place on Saturday, October 24

Wear blue for The Plymouth Wave, the latest climate change march, which takes place in Plymouth on Saturday, October 24.

The organisers, the Stop Climate Chaos Coalition say, not only to wear blue but to bring blue banners.

The Wave in the South West is one of a number of climate justice demonstrations around Devon and the UK, culminating in a major national event, The Wave on Saturday, December 5 in London– two days before the UN Climate Summit begins in Copenhagen.

Professor Iain Stewart of BBC TV fame (Climate Catastrophe or Global Conspiracy; Earth: the Power of the Planet, for example) and Plymouth University will address the rally.

Music will be provided by the Big Beat junk band, world record holders for being the largest junk band.

And negotiations are on going with the Maldives High commission to confirm the High Commissioner of the Maldives to speak.

The Stop Climate Chaos Coalition represents 11 million members across 100 UK organisations, from the Women’s Institute and RSPB to Oxfam and Unison. All are united in their demand for an end to dirty coal, and a fair and just international climate change deal that protects the worlds’ poorest communities.

The Plymouth Wave begins with a service at St Andrews Church at 1.30pm. The march begins at Plymouth Civic Centre Piazza at 2.30pm (nr Respect Festival Unity Stage) and the rally takes place on Plymouth Hoe at 3pm.
