To us, the PRSD is the centre of the world, but we could be pretty much centre of the universe if the Cornish Space Port takes off.
According to the Cornish Space Port site, Cornwall has the best facilities for a space port in the form of RAF St Mawgan, the reduced runway of which is used for Newquay Airport.
Way back in 2006, the Pasty identified RAF St Mawgan as a possible venue for Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic, which would make space travel affordable for the common man.
And the reasons behind the Cornish Space Port? Well, there’s Goonhilly Earth Station to provide the communications, there’s Falmouth to park the billioinaires’ yatchs, and plenty of schemes are awarded money to start up business in Cornwall.
Plus, Jenson Button’s home town is Frome, Somerset, and he goes way fast!
It all seem pretty irrefutable.
