Katie Marie is back from her Germany tour, where she had a tinted-windowed tour bus, plus an extensive list of highlights

I’m now back in the UK and it’s wonderful to see everyone again. If you’ve checked out any of the vids on Youtube you’ll probably have seen that I had such an amazing time, can’t wait to be out there again!
Here’s a really funkee little map that I have to thank Sabine from Facebook for and it shows where we were on what date:

There was lots and lots of travelling involved, but luckily we had our very own swanky tour bus (complete with tinted windows I might add!) and I did spend an awful lot of time snoozing and gazing out the windows at the German scenery.

I think my favourite city I visited has to be Regensburg. Walking across the bridge over the river and into the town centre was like wondering into some kind of fairy tale. You really do feel like you’ve strolled into a movie set as everything there seems so perfect. The venue that we played in Regensburg was called Gloria and it used to be an old movie theatre and it’s jam-packed full of vintage vibes (which, as you know, is waaaay up my street).
I’ve had loads of people ask me which was my favourite venue, and that’s really a question that is so impossible to answer as I adored them all. I loved all the wonderful people who came to our gigs, and each and every venue was unique in it’s own way. I’ve got memories from each one that I’ll keep with me for a long time!
Another really great gig I played in Stuttgart was the Live Lyrics Project with a good friend called Biggi. She had taken the time to translate all my song lyrics into German and we played this gig together with me playing the music and a mixture of me singing and her reading my lyrics in German to the audience – it was fastinating for me to hear my music read in poetry stylee in German and also to see people’s reactions!! lol Very kewl!
It was also a huge honor for me to be playing most of these gigs with Elli, who is not only a wonderfully gifted performer and songwriter, but one of the most grounded and lovely people I’ve ever met (and they are hard to find in the musical world!). We had loads of fun during this tour and are hoping to do lots more musical type stuff next year, so watch this space!
A few highlights for you that spring to mind: seeing little Lisa order and drink a litre of beer from the bar (not a pint… a LITRE!! lol); playing an acoustic cover of Haddaway What is Love with Elli and everyone going nuts at Cassiopiea in Stuttgart; playing in a music shop surrounded by guitars of all shapes and sizes in Berlin; the audience reaction at the Live Lyrics Project when Biggi read the lyrics to my song Red Light; swapping t-shirts with Nadine at Cafe D’Art (yep, I now own a rather nifty Cafe D’Art tee!); drawing a picture of Katie and Elli’s boobies on a mirror behind where we were playing in The Kellerbar; jamming with AD & JB on the very last gig and getting to play Cajon! I honestly could go on and on for ages.
There’s oodles of piccies you can check them out on the Official Elli fan site.
And before I finish talking about how fantastic Germany was, I have to give a mention and the biggest, hugest thanks in the world to Sandra, Spikey and Michi who seriously busted a gut to get these gigs for Elli and I and also went to the ends of the earth to make us feel as comfortable and happy 24-7 as well as arranging all these amazing gigs, thank you so much guys!!
Now I’m back in the UK I’ve got a few gigs here to look forward to. This Saturday (October 31) is the Soundart Art Radio’s Fete Worse than Death Halloween party that’s happening at Aller Park, Dartington from noon to midnight, which I’ll be playing at (yay!), and there’s also a gig at The Barrel House that is sure to be loads of fun, Dan (Crisp) and I will be playing there on Sunday, November 22 so wack it in your diaries!
Anyways, I’m currently nursing a stinking cold I caught on the last day I was in Germany (better the last day than the first ay?) So I’m going to sit and watch crappy UK tele for a while!
