On a day when the lack of Devon Job Centres in rural communities has been highlighted, Plymouth Sutton MP Linda Gilroy will speak about how Plymouth is doing, jobs wise, in the recession.
It’s going to be an upbeat speech, by all accounts, and it will focus on ‘the role of the Department of Work and Pensions in supporting those seeking work, she will also discuss the role of the Department as an employer itself in the city. Plymouth has a high proportion of public sector workers, including many who work for Job Centre Plus’, says her website.
“I want to use my speech to highlight those things that have worked and to identify areas where further help is needed,” she said.
The debate will begin at 7pm in Westminster Hall and can be watched live via the Parliament Website or through the BBC Democracy Live website.

Life is getting better in Plymouth? There are jobs in Plymouth? Linda Gilroy must have gone blind? Will be very glad to replace her at the next election with someone who has some kind of presence and the mind to tackle the job in a more open fashion. Plymouth needs some real talent.
