An exhibition in Newton Abbot from Friday, November 27 highlight some of the county’s rarest plants and animals, all in aid of Devon Wildlife Trust.
The photographs have been taken by Vicki Gardner from Ideford over the past few months and are also being brought together to form a book entitled Devon Rarities. Vicki is donating 25 per cent of the proceeds from the sale of the book to the conservation work carried out by the Devon Wildlife Trust which is protecting many of the species featured.
Vicki told the PRSD: “The book came about as we, Incidental Imagery, decided to give our next exhibition a ‘green’ theme. I wondered what to do as a photographer and came up with the idea of photographing wildlife rarities in Devon.
“I didn’t want to just display them as framed prints. It didn’t seem to get the message across about how important conservation charities and their work are. So I decided to produce a book to help spread the message further. I want to see our natural world preserved for everyone and for Devon to be celebrated as the amazing county that it is.”’
The exhibition is taking place at 39 East Street, Newton Abbot from Friday, November 27 to Sunday, December 6, and is part of the Newton Abbot Art Trail.
