Totnes MP Anthony Steen asks questions on human trafficking

You thought Totnes MP Anthony Steen has disappeared to the wilds of his enviable country house, but no, he is asking questions in The House (that’s Parliament to you). The questions are on the Trafficking of Women and Children.

In a couple of written questions, Anthony asked how many individuals were trafficked, with the answer of 190 ‘reasonable grounds’ decisions of people from 35 different countries. “Of the 190 there have been 51 positive “conclusive grounds” decisions of people from 11 countries,” Alan Campbell, Parliamentary Under-Secretary, Home Office, told the Totnes MP.

Anthony also enquired when he’d get a response about his proposed meeting with the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Trafficking of Women and Children.

‘Prorogation,’ said Dawn Primarolo, Minister Department for Children, Schools and Families, which we took to mean ‘raincheck’.
