Glad to see a Tory brave enough to stand up to the bloodsports lobby that have infiltrated his party. What a shame that David Cameron wants to be associated with those who kill for kicks.

Marcus Wood is correct.
The people of this country have made it perfectly clear that the idea of animal abuse as a sport is completely unacceptable in a civilised country.
It really is time these people gave up their protests and accepted that we live in a democracy and the majority have spoken very loudly on this issue.

I like to think of the Countryside Alliance as the militant wing of the Tory party.

This shady group started out as the British Field Sports Society – rebranded to the ‘Countryside Alliance’. Hunting is then rebranded to ‘country pursuits’. Cubbing is then rebranded to ‘Autumn Hunting’. I can hardly wait for next years’ theme. Will Hare-coursing become ‘field tennis’?

Well, both are possible as the Tories will do almost anything for dosh (I know: I used to raise it for them), but party pressure is still powerful and it looks like the present leadership is determined to commit political suicide by upsetting the vast majority of country folk who were sick to death of such as hunting and hare coursing and are (secretly) thankful that the House of Commons did the right thing in 2004.
