Buck the Trend is THE Devon Green Community – and that's official!

Buckfastleigh environmental group Buck the Trend as been named Devon’s Green Community by the Energy Saving Trust, based in Plymouth.

Buck the Trend entered the Green Communities project to be eligible for 12 months of tailored environmental support and advice.

Tony Merrick from the Energy Saving Trust said: “It was clear that Buck the Trend is all about the community. They had already done some great work in the area and had some good ideas they wanted to bring forward over the coming year.

“We were enthused about working with the group because of their genuine approach to community life and the potential of what we can achieve by working together in the town.”

Buck the Trend is now refining its carbon reduction plan, which will detail all the environmental activity over the coming year, key to which is helping residents cut their fuel bills.

The groups is encouraging residents to work out where their home is losing the most energy through an online assessment or through the Energy Saving Trust advice centre.

Buck the Trend will be holding an open meeting for people to add to the town’s carbon reduction plan at Buckfastleigh Town Hall on Wednesday, November 25 at 7:30pm.
