Transition Newton Abbot and the View from Here film festival have got together to ask the question about whether films can change opinion with a films and discussion on sustainability and community action led by filmmaker Gareth Allen at the Jolly Farmer pub, Newton Abbot, on Tuesday, December 1 at 7pm.
The main feature on the night is Power of Community, how Cuba survived peak oil.
The movie looks at The Special Period in Cuba, when the fall of the Soviet Union forced Cuba into economic crisis and a shift from a highly mechanized, industrial agricultural system to one using organic methods of farming and local, urban gardens.
The View from Here kicks off on Saturday, November 28 with free family animation workshop in Newton Abbot and a screening of the work of Transition Newton Abbot at the community gardens at Baker’s Park.
