All change! End of the line for Plymouth Citybus boss as new owners GoAhead appoint their own MD

With an efficiency you doubt will be present in the privitised Go-Ahead bus service, the new company has whipped in their own managing director.

The Plymouth Transit site says: ‘With the ink barely dry on the paper, the company announced that it was appointing a new managing director’.

The new boss Andrew Wickham replaces John Ackroyd, who ran Citybus for more than 20 years, and whose call for investment began the chain of events which led to the sale, according to Mark Baskerville, Citybus representative for the union Unite.

On the new owners Mark says: “We’ve had a statement from the company saying not a lot will change for the average person at the beginning. They say we’re going to remain competitive by controlling costs and improving revenue and customer service.

“I’ll reserve judgement until we can sit down and ask them exactly what will happen.”
