Just when you thought it was safe to say the Lib Dems had given up finding a replacement to Sally Morgan in the highly winnable Central Devon constituency, they muster a hustings right under your nose.
The Central Devon Lib Dems (or Mellow Yellows, as we’ve never called them) will be holding their hustings tomorrow (Saturday, January 16). The only people we know are standing are Tony Vickers and Phil Hutty. Maybe the party’s playing things close to its chest after the short-lived tenure of Sally Morgan (fancy being asked to contribute cash to your own political party!)
Central Devon is a new seat, and they will be up against Conservative Mel Stride, who lured former dyed-in-the-wool Lib Dem Richard Copus over to the dark side… we mean Tory party… just last week. The Labour PPC is Digby Trout and UKIP have five-time mayor of Crediton, Bob Edwards.
We shall await with baited breath the new appointment.
