Bad week for Plymouth Conservative trustworthiness, along with those who will lose jobs at former CityBus

Tories break promise on Citybus jobs

Poor old Plymouth Tories. They sell CityBus in the face of public opinion and at a knockdown price, only for their pants to be set on fire when new owners GoAhead declare job losses ahead of the Tory promise that none would be made for at least six months.

The plight of the 14 who will be losing their jobs leads the latest Good Week/ Bad Week column on the Devon Week.

They share the bill with two cats, Nigel Mansell and the finances of Exeter City Council.

On the other side, it’s been a good week for for travel, both futuristic and tradional – there’s been laser travel talked about for Exeter, and underground heating at Haldon Hill, while the River Dart steamtrain line has had its best year ever. Another winner is Plymouth Sky line.
