Newton Abbot Lib Dems announce General Election team

Newton Abbot Lib Dems with Paddy Ashdown

The Newton Abbot Liberal Democrats have announced their key players in the team to fight the next General Election, expected to be Thursday, May 6.

Teignmouth Councillor Terry Falcao will chair the campaign to seek to re-elect Teignbridge MP Richard Younger-Ross for a third term. The agent for the campaign will be former Mayor of Dawlish, Tom Bush, and the constituency organiser will be Bovey Tracey Councillor Sally Morgan (whose leaked emails about party subscriptions caused a minor ruckus in the summer, and lead to her standing down as Lib Dem PPC for Central Devon, a role that has only just been filled). David Cox will be a constituency organiser with special responsibility for poster sites.

Other members of the team are expected to be announced shortly.

Terry told the PRSD: “Richard has been an excellent MP and our task is to ensure he is re-elected. Fighting the new Newton Abbot constituency is a two-horse race between the Conservative candidate and Richard. The outcome in Newton Abbot will not determine the Government, for the Labour Party need to lose MPs for the Labour Party to lose power.

“The fight here is about who is the best person to represent the constituency. Richard will be fighting on his outstanding record as a constituency MP.”

• Newton Abbot Conservatives have already spent shed-loads in Newton Abbot. Any predictions on the forthcoming General Election, and why? Comments below, please

Can't vote for Younger-Ross because of the expenses scandal he got mixed up in. Voting Tory is absolutely unthinkable, lots of people vote Lib-Dem just to keep those dreadful people out of power.

"Vote Tory for real change"? What a ridiculous notion.

But this is not the time to be holding your nose and voting Lib-Dem. Better to spoil the ballot paper.

Fair comment Bill, I thought Ludacris were a Jam tribute band who recorded the Eton Rifles as an anthem for Cameron and the rest of the Tory front bench!!

ludicrous**

- merely a typing error!

The message is there and the message going out is a strong one.

2010 can be the year of positive change.

If you vote Liberal and get Gordon Brown then you shouldn't be the ones complaining in 5 years time.

Come come, Graham - perhaps Margaret is a big Ludacris fan. He is, after all, a big advocate of southern hospitality and the Conservatives have hoes in different area codes after pimpin' all over the world in the Eighties...

Presumably Magaret will be backing improved calls for better standards of English as well!!

We can't go on like this.

This seat is one of the most significant seats in the country. If you want to change the government you must vote conservative here. To suggest anything else is ludacris.

Looking at the photo of their team which is looks old and jaded and compared to the nice young gentleman and women who volunteer for the conservative candidate it seems to be this election at a local level is about the past making way for the future.

Anne Marie has done much more than Richard has done in his 9 years as MP for Teignbridge.

Personally I would much rather have an MP on the government side of Parliament thus whom has more influence of getting a better deal for Newton Abbot than one that sits with other weak members of the house and is a laughing joke.

The Conservatives have defianately got my vote.

"outstanding record as a constituency MP.”

You must be joking.

Of course the outcome in Newton Abbot will determine the election - this is one of the seats the Conservatives need to win in order to form a majority.

If you want change, you've got to vote Conservative - end of story.

To suggest anything else is simply very shallow electioneering.
