Teignbrige MP Richard Younger-Ross has secured an adjournment debate on Wednesday (January, 27) to highlight the under funding of Devon’s primary and secondary schools.
Richard the PRSD: “This is an issue that I have been fighting ever since I was elected in 2001.
“The funding gap was created when the previous Government put in place the grant system, which unfortunately the current Government has done little to change, leaving schools in Devon seriously under funded. I recently attended a F40 group conference on this issue and fully support Devon County Council’s call this year for fairer funding.
“However, there is some hope as pressure has led the Government to review the way in which grants are calculated and change may finally be on its way.”
• Each pupil in the City of London receives £7,603, whereas in Devon the figure drops by nearly £4,000 to £3,842
