A Debate About South West Devon, with Lib Dems South West Devon PPC Anna Pascoe and Lembit Opik MP in the hot seats at a buffet and debate will take place at the Stamford Fort Leisure complex in Mountbatten on Thursday, February 4, at 7.30pm.
Anna has been the Lib Dem PPC for South West Devon for three months now.
She told the PRSD it’s been a “busy whirl of meetings, dashing between different areas, getting involved in all kinds of local issues – from dealing with anti-social behaviour to trying to get a straight answer from a Tory-run council on whether they are going to change the layout of a roundbabout (harder than you might think!)”.
She said: “So far I’ve been lucky enough to meet lots of great local people, who have given me food for thought on their ideas and priorities for the area.
“A while back I had the idea of bringing people together for a social evening, in a relaxed setting, where people could put forward any fresh ideas they had to inspire local politics.”
Richard Smith, a Director of the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce and Business Development Director for Bright LLP, the commercial law practice based on the Tamar Science Park, Plymouth will be asking questions about the Liberal Democrats Party, its readiness to govern and how they see the next five years for Liberal Democrats in the area.
Richard Smith said: “I will be asking him questions like how the Liberal Democrats will use the balance of power nationally to benefit our area and why he thinks he is one of the best known politicians in Britain.”
The food will all be sourced local produce from Devonshire showcased by a local chef.
