Ivybridge to Derriford Hospital bus campaign for Lib Dem Tony Barber

Tony Barber, Lib Dem candidate in the Ivybridge Filham by-election, which takes place on Thursday, February 18, is calling for a more direct bus service to Derriford Hospital.

He says anyone visiting Derriford Hospital as a regular patient or visitor has to rely on either car, taxi or at least two buses all of which can pose problems, especially for older people.

There is a bus service from Plympton to Derriford on weekdays only but since buses from Ivybridge to Plympton only run every two hours even this is not going to be a useful connection. What might well be the solution is a service from Ivybridge to Derriford via Plympton. Surely this should not be impossible to arrange?

• The Ivybridge Filham by-election for the South Hams District Council was called when one of the sitting Conservatives (for there are two in this seat), Terry Hewitt, stepped down due to work pressure. Pity the other incumbent of the seat, ‘Conflicted Croad’, hasn’t done the decent thing… The people of Ivybridge deserve at least some representation.

• What are the issues in Ivybridge and can the Lib Dems make any inroads into the Tory stronghold? Comments below, please
