The Totnes Conservative Women’s Organisation has put together a seminar to the discuss the main issues facing the South Devon voter at the forthcoming General Election – wonder if they’ll touch on the lack of real choice in your electoral candidate?
Just because the whole day of chat was the brain child of the Totnes Conservative Women’s Organisation doesn’t mean all the pontification will come from the female of the species – and why should it? Only one of the day’s five speakers is a woman – Adele Dawson, head of skills innovations and projects at South Devon College.
Other speakers are: David Chapman, a headmaster of 20 years now a development executive for the United Church Schools Trust; Neil Parish former Conservative MEP and Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Tiverton and Honiton, Anthony Parr, former chief executive of South Devon Health Care Trust, and Geoffrey Martin, who will get a para all to himself.
Geoffrey represented the European Commission in the UK and abroad from 1979 and more recently was seconded from the EC to the Commonwealth Secretariat from 2002-05. He is an advisor on Strategic Relationships to the Commonwealth Secretary General. Geoffrey was a director of Shelter, Hill Samuel & Co and President of the National Union of Students.
The event will be held at the Thurlestone Hotel, Hope Cove, near Kingsbridge, on Friday, February 26 from 10am to 5pm.
Tickets are available at £25, to include the cost of lunch and refreshments, from Sue Bryce on 01803 852483.
