Tourism business in Devon can carshare their way to a sustainable travel conference at South Devon Railway, Buckfastleigh on Wednesday, March 10 from 11am to 3.30pm
It’s organised by Devon County Council along with Visit Devon and the South West Regional Development Agency, and is intended to encourage visitors to Devon to travel more sustainable while on holiday – you know, buses and cycling and trains, and the like…
The aim is to explore new ways of influencing visitor travel around Devon and to inspire organisations to provide guests with information on great days out without using the car. The conference will be chaired by Alistair Handyside, chairman of the South West Tourism.
Speakers include:
Anthony Climpson employment and tourism manager, of The New Forest. Anthony will explain howover the last 25 years they have managed to reduce the impact of visitor traffic in the New Forest
Manda Brookman, director CoaST (Cornwall Sustainable Tourism Project) will be talking about how they encourage businesses to persuade people out of their cars.
Dr Jo Guiver, Researcher Institute of Transport and Tourism, University of Central Lancashire will be demonstrating various projects around the country that promote sustainable tourism travel.
Neil Warren, sustainability strategist, South West Tourism will be explaining how tourism businesses can talk to customers about how to reduce their impact on the environment and will be giving practical examples and tools.
