Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust have a combination of food and fire, with a little bit of ‘finding’, in their events for March and April, with charcoal burning, a family firecraft challenge, the best chocolate cakes ever… and an Easter egg trail.
A hands-on charcoal burning workshop takes place on Thursday, March 11, at Occombe Farm, where you can be part of the complete charcoal burning process.
The famous Occombe Easter Trail takes place from Friday, April 2 to Monday, April 5. There’s a secret password in a trail through the farm countryside walk. Find it and you can win a chocolate prize.
Are you a firestarter? Can you create an open fire with only wood and natural tinder? If making fire is a burning ambition, pop along to the Gamekeeper’s Cottage, Cockington in the Family Firecraft Challenge, on Tuesday, April 6.
A Best-ever Cake Masterclass, led by Gabrielle Jackson, previously awarded Best Chocolate Cake in Britain, takes place on Sunday, April 25. Get your hands on “carrot cake, fragrant with spice, topped with cream cheese frosting, zesty lemon cake packed with almonds, deeply dark & gooey chocolate, juicy Devon apple with crumbly topping…”
