This week has been oodles better for me, lots of musical stuff and plenty of sunshine – what more could a girl ask for?
So after having the first Miquid Licks gig in Cheltenham cancelled last week, it meant that the first outing outside of our practise room was moved to Mama Stone’s last Tuesday, and I have to say for a first gig we didn’t do too badly at all! Big huge thankies to all that ventured out to see us, hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
There are a couple clips I’ve spotted on Youtube, it does make it look as if I’m the only person on stage!! lol But I can assure you that there were two other people there!
Really looking forward to doing lots more!
Yesterday was oodles of fun too, as I was asked by Nicky (Swann) if I wanted to pop along and play some bass with her as she was doing a live set for Shep and Jo’s show on BBC Radio Devon. I absolutely *love* doing radio sets so I was as ever really looking forward to it. We ended up playing two songs which were Little Bird and Nicky’s version of The Beatles song I Want to Hold You Hand. It all sounded pretty good and Shep and Jo seemed pleased with our set – if you didn’t manage to hear it first time round then fear not, as it’ll be on the BBC iPlayer very soon!
Another very exciting thing I did this week was buy my plane tickets for Germany! Woohoo!! I’ll be heading off on Thursday, April 1 and my first gig is in Rostock on Saturday, April 3. I’ll be joined by the lovely Elli and also another German lady called CARÓ who I’ve not seen or met before so I’m looking forward to hearing her set. I’ll also be doing a few other dates in the south while I’m there, can’t wait!
So I’ve got a really wonderful weekend of musical type stuff lined up, kicking off on Saturday with a Nicky Swann gig at the lovely Blue Walnut Cafe in Chelston, Torquay. I’ve played there a couple of times and it really is a very unique little place that oozes character. I’ll be armed with my bass and percussion bits and bobs as well as my camera so expect lots of piccies!
Then on Sunday I’ll be back at Mama Stone’s, this time with Dan Crisp and yes – this is the first Dan Crisp gig of 2010, horrah!! It’s going to be an acoustic affair and I’ll be playing my percussion bits and bobs as well as the in house Cajon! Oh yeah!! So I’m really looking forward to that.
I hope you have a super duper weekend what ever you get up to, fingers crossed this lovely sunshine will be around for a while!
