Remember the budget? We’ve got two of Richard Younger-Ross’s responses to it. And guess what the original thinker has singled out? Protecting Newton Abbot’s cider bar, that what. It is just one of four left in the country afterall!
Plus he’s mentioned fuel. But enough of our chitter-chatter, let’s hear what the great man of Teignbridge politics has to say.
On fuel rises:
Teign MP Richard Younger-Ross has condemned the Chancellor’s budget announcement that fuel prices will rise by 6 per cent.
He said: “Although the rise is planned in three stages, prices at the pumps are already reaching record levels and this will have a devastating effect on rural areas where people are much more reliant upon their own transport.”
On cider:
Richard Younger-Ross, MP for Teignbridge in South Devon has condemned the Chancellor’s budget statement to increase cider duty by a massive 10 per cent.
“This will have a very damaging effect on the industry” he said. “it is a tax which attacks small craft cider makers and many of them will now be faced with a very uncertain future.”
He continued: “To tackle anti social behaviour we need a minimum price per unit of alcohol which will force up the price of low cost ciders and will not affect and damage the small cider makers in Devon. It would protect the future of Newton Abbot’s cider bar which is only one of four left in the country.”
