While the Newton Abbot Conservatives are having their spending scrutinized, Totnes Tory Dr Sarah Woolaston is coming under fire about the party’s Euro-stance, particularly why the Conservatives have allied themselves with far right elements in the European Parliament, and why the Conservative’s internal report on the matter has been covered up.
Paul Harrison says in an email to the PRSD: “In public meetings Dr Sarah sells herself as ‘honest’ and ‘fresh’, a ‘new kind of politician’. On her website she says ’I am committed to taking the views of the whole constituency into account and promise to listen and be open to arguments’. In reality Dr Sarah is suppressing debate by censoring comments on her website and refusing to answer legitimate questions.
“Dr Wollaston is censoring Totnes voters’ questions about the Conservative’s cover-up of an internal report on Poland’s homophobic and racist Law and Justice party. The Conservative’s alignment with Law and Justice is well-known. They are one of the grouping of far-right parties – described as ‘nutters’ by Nick Clegg in the TV debate of Thursday 22.4.10 – that David Cameron has joined in Europe. ”
The list of questions the growing band of Totnes voters are asking to be answered are: Why was the internal investigation into the Conservative party’s alignment with Law and launched? Why was the investigation covered up? Why was Edward McMillian-Scott MEP expelled from the party without notice or reason?
Oh, and what does ‘the slide towards federalism’ mean?
Our sneaky suspicion is nothing more sinister than she doesn’t actually know the answers.
