Swing your hips on Haytor as the Dance This Way crowd holds a special free outdoor dance workshop to celebrate World Dance Day on Thursday, April 29.
For one day only the project will be taking to Haytor to celebrate World Dance Day, with a free workshop from 1pm – 2.30pm led by dance artist Niki Pollard.
Dance This Way normally offers fun and friendly regular dance classes for adults across Teignbridge as a way to get active, meet others and have fun in village halls, bringing dancing to people’s doorsteps, and there are still a few places available for the special the event to enjoy a dance session on the moor.
Katherine Nietrzebka, Teignbridge Council’s Dance This Way Practitioner, told the PRSD: “It will be fantastic to be up on Haytor dancing in the open air, and we’re looking forward to Teignbridge residents and visitors joining us for a unique experience.
“Dancing in the fresh air is really liberating, refreshing and energising. The dance and movement on Thursday will be on the flat grass next to Haytor, and it will be very gentle so anyone can join in.
“We’ve ordered sun for the event, so fingers crossed we won’t be doing a rain dance! It’ll be a great feeling knowing you are dancing at the same time as others right the way across Devon and the world.”
Anyone is welcome to attend the one-day only free Dartmoor dance workshop, and no dance experience is necessary. However, places are limited and must be booked in advance.
