Free healthy cooking lessons in Exwick

healthy eating and living

Exeter City Council is working with NHS Devon and Exwick Community Association to offer the residents of Exwick a free Cook4Life cooking lesson, which will take place at the My Neighbourhood PACT meeting on Thursday, May 27 at 6pm until 7.30pm at Exwick Community Centre on Kinnerton Way.

A Community Dietician from NHS Devon will be demonstrating how to make some simple, healthy dishes on a budget and people will get the chance to make some of the dishes and of course, taste them.

Information will also be available regarding the free two-day Cook4Life courses taking place in the city in June. These courses are for anybody interested in becoming a community cooking tutor themselves. Cook4life is part of the Department of Health’s campaign, Change4life which is a society-wide movement that aims to encourage people to eat better and have a healthier lifestyle.

Councillor Laura Newton, who will be attending the event, told the PRSD: “This is an exciting opportunity to learn about cooking healthy meals on a budget and how we can help pass this message across our community. As with all My Neighbourhood PACT meetings residents of all ages are welcome and time will be allocated on the evening to let residents have their say about Exwick and any issues they may want to raise.”

You can get further information about the meeting, My Neighbourhood PACT or ‘Cook4life’ by contacting Exwick Area Liaison Officer, Joanne Hare on telephone number 01392 265745 or exw...@exeter.gov.uk

My Neighbourhood PACT is a joint project between Exeter City Council and Devon and Cornwall Police  The scheme brings together city councillors, residents and the Neighbourhood Policing teams (as part of the Partners and Communities Together (PACT) work) to make a difference in local neighbourhoods.
