Teignmouth's new arts and community centre steps closer with working weekend

The Teignmouth Arts Advisory Group has signed the lease on what was Tomorrow’s Teignmouth building in Northumberland Place for what is to be known at the TAAG Arts and Community Centre at Old Swanson’s, and is looking for a bunch of volunteers to help prepare the building for its new role.

A Working Party Weekend is due to take place on Saturday and Sunday, July 3 and 4, where volunteers will have fun (we’re assured) while they get stuck into to some redecoration, repair and other work that needs to be done before the centre can reopen its doors.

The group has also set up the TAAG Community Interest Company (TAAG CIC) to oversee the day to management and running of the building.

The new company’s management team is to include a steering committee made up of representatives from local groups and organisations as consultative group to provide advice and direction to the new company.

If you want to get involved with the artistic future of Teignmouth and give a hand to the Teignmouth Arts Advisory Group, check out the TAAG website and get in touch with Roger Smith rog...@aol.com (01626 879944) or
