South Devon district plans for the future and asks people to share their thoughts

Future shape of Teignbridge

South Devon citizens, have your say on the ‘future shape of Teignbridge’. A new consultation on the long-term plans for the district is a launching on Saturday, June 26.

The council is putting together a Local Development Framework, where it will outline how the area will face up to the massive growth that is expected in the next 20 years – when and where new building is required – from homes to shops, roads, public transport facilities and more.

People are being asked for their views on creating the Core Strategy – the central document in the Local Development Framework.

The public consultation, which runs until Tuesday, July 27, will let everyone offer their input to an Issues and Options Report, which will influence how the Core Strategy is developed. When complete, the Core Strategy will describe the overall vision for developing the area up to 2031.

A travelling exhibition will tour the area and give people the opportunity to ask questions and provide comment on the challenges which might face the area in future.

Anyone who can’t make the exhibitions can still have their say online, by post, in person or on the phone.

Further details are available on the Teignbridge LDF (Local Development Framework) web pages, where plans can be read and commented on using an interactive system. Comments can be made by email to forwardplanning@teignbridge.gov.uk, in person at Teignbridge Council’s Forde House headquarters in Newton Abbot, or in writing to: Spatial Planning & Delivery, Teignbridge District Council, Forde House, Newton Abbot, TQ12 4XX

Responses must be written, but information and advice can be given over the phone on 01626 215747.
