Creative young people aged 13 -19 can unleash their imagination in a series of free workshops when the BBC Blast tour rolls into Paignton for three days, starting Thursday, July 15.
Blast will set up in the Clennon Valley Car Park, by Torbay Leisure Centre building a mobile creative village, complete with digital workshop spaces and separate performance area.
Over the next three days young people with a passion for music, dance, fashion, film and art, can take part in a variety of free workshops, meet industry professionals, learn new skills, share ideas, use the latest technology and get creative, whatever their ability.
Highlights include: Freerunning (parkour) working with professional freerunner Dominic Rott, where you can learn how to take on your environment using strength and flexibility; Extreme Art – inspired by Damien Hirst’s exhibition in Torquay this summer, you can figure out what makes extreme art and have a go at creating your own. And a Music Business Q&A where you can get top tips from a range of music industry professionals.
Other workshops on offer include: Brush up your performance skills for you to bring out your inner voice with a professional poet and performer, learn how to sing like a star; or bust some moves in the choreography and street dance sessions. Free your artistic side where you can try wildlife, action, or lifestyle photography, fashion designing and creation, animation or a graffiti art taster. And you can use state of the art equipment to make a film; mix video in a VJ workshop; sample music production and remixing; play with TV special effects; or try radio DJing, journalism and programme making.
A selection of work created at the event will be shown at the Blast Talent Showcases on Thursday July 15 at 5.45pm and Saturday, July 17 at 5.30pm, where you can get to see the future stars of the area showing off their new skills!
All workshops and showcases are free, for more details and to sign up see the Blast site or email blast-paignton@bbc.co.uk
