Rare Greater Horseshoe bats are residents in the caves at Berry Head, and you can get a glimpse of these peeping pipistrelles on a bat walk at Berry Head on Friday, July 2.
The Torbay Coast & Countryside Trust, which runs the site, is taking steps to conserve the species, but you’ll be able to watch the bats emerge from their roosts and thrill at their acrobatics as you tune in with your bat detectors.
You can even have a plate of home-cooked supper at the new Guardhouse Cafe before the walk, which lasts from 8.15pm t0 10pm, and costs £3.50 for adults and £2.50 for children (the supper is from £4).
Booking is essential, and to do so call 1803 606035 (where you can also sort of the supper) or book online.
