South Devon is awash with loads to do for the family, and with the ‘current economic climate’, it’s worth making the most of what’s on offer, especially when you’ve got kids in tow. And that doesn’t mean that you have to miss out – in fact, we reckon it adds to the fun.
This summer, for example, Exeter Respect festival at Belmont park offered two free days of family fun. And the Exeter Festival had more free events than ever before.
But it’s not just festivals that have an allure. The moor is more than 20 square miles of outdoorsy fun, with plenty of beguiling tales and odd stone outcrops (not to mention the letterboxing) to will entertain the kids no end. And if it’s outdoorsy you’re after, South Devon is home to the South West’s largest forest at Haldon, with a bike trail and family trek with leafy nooks and crannies to explore.
Of course, we haven’t mentioned the beaches, and a favourite is Shaldon’s Ness Cove, although whether it’s the beach itself or the Smuggler’s Tunnel that you go through to get there that’s the draw, we’re not sure.
And after a fun-filled frugal day, it’s refreshing to know that you can continue in the same style while you get your brood fed and watered with the Pizza Hut Kids Eat Free campaign, which has now been extended to January 9, 2011 (summer isn’t the only time for great offers, donchaknow).
For every adult main course or adult lunchtime buffet purchased, an accompanying child can choose from either a FREE 2 course kids meal (includes a drink) or a FREE kids lunchtime buffet (includes pizza, pasta and salad).
