Ejected UKIP MEP is a ‘disgrace’

South West MEP Graham Watson has accused UKIP MEP Godfrey Bloom of ‘embarrassing the British people’ after Bloom disrupted the European Parliament’s morning session by shouting abuse at Social Democrat leader Martin Schulz.

Bloom interrupted Schulz by shouting across the chamber ‘Ein Volk, Ein Reich, Ein Fuhrer’. When asked by the Speaker to apologise, Bloom called Schulz ‘an undemocratic fascist’. At the insistence of MEPs from across the political spectrum Bloom was eventually thrown out.

The UKIP MEP appears to have been following the example of Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, who made similar Nazi comments about Schulz in 2003, and colleagues like Nigel Farage who have in the past insulted politicians from across Europe.

Graham believes it is all done for the cameras. He said: “Godfrey Bloom’s behaviour was outrageous, and UKIP has again tarnished Britain’s reputation in Europe. I am disappointed that another UKIP MEP has decided to stand-up for the cameras and his own ego, rather than Britain’s interests.

“This kind of behaviour would not be tolerated in the House of Commons or British society generally, so why do UKIP think it is acceptable in the European Parliament?

“I’m pleased that MEPs threw Bloom out of the session and I hope voters do likewise if and when he seeks re-election. Godfrey Bloom is a disgrace to Britain.”

"It's fine to call Eurosceptics Nazis, but woe betide them if they return the insult.

It seems to me that Mr Bloom's remark fitted the aims of the European Union very aptly. After all, their stated goal is :-
One European People (Ein Volk),
One European Empire (Ein Reich), and they have just foisted upon us one European President (Ein Fuhrer) without consulting the people of Europe.

There is nothing inherently Nazi in the quotation, it just happens that it was first used by a Nazi.

The truth sometimes hurts!

In this age of cutbacks, I think the EU gravy train is definitely one service we could definitely do without.
