Dawlish councillor Derek Collins wants to see if the recently closed Devon County Council recycling centre could become a community-run facility under the Localism Act. As a community-run facility it might be possible to get charity funding.
There had been an increase in old furniture being dumped at the side of a road. There had even been a mattress dumped right in the middle of the Strand – Dawlish’s shopping centre
Derek told the PRSD: “We need our centre.
“I’ve reported the fly tipping to Teignbridge’s Blitz Team.
“There is never any excuse for fly tipping, the indiscriminate dumping of rubbish is anti-social; nevertheless the decision to close the Recycling Centre is in my opinion leading to more fly tipping.”
