Dartmouth Apprentice: apprentices impressed Dartmouth-based business trainer

Dartmouth Apprentice – Devon’s only training restaurant for the long-term unemployed – has had been donated some free advice from Dartmouth-based trainer Peter McCann.

Peter, who has worked for some of the world’s biggest companies – including Metal Box, Colgate Palmolive and Digital Equipment – is now a senior director of Certainty One, a company which trains the best in industry and business to be the best.

He had dinner at the Dartmouth Apprentice, and was so impressed by the training scheme it offered, as well as the high-quality service and food provided, he offered to take the current crop of apprentices and take them through a training scheme designed by his company aimed at getting people back to work.

He offered this scheme completely for free.

Dartmouth Apprentice manager Nina Stanesby instantly accepted Peter’s offer.

He took the apprentices through their first session working on their CVs and is helping each of the 10 apprentices see where their strengths are and how to give themselves the best chance of going into employment when their current six-month apprenticeship ends.

Nina said: “We couldn’t believe it when a man with Peter’s experience, skills and knowledge offered this training for free.

“We offer every apprentice a ‘Blueprint to Work’ training scheme which looks at all the areas Peter will be covering, but to have this training delivered by someone with such skill and experience is brilliant. This will fit so well with the Level 2 NVQ each apprentice takes during their six-month apprenticeship.

“Everyone at the Dartmouth Apprentice would like to thank Peter for his generous and wonderful gift.”
