Brighton Bicycle Ballet to pirouette into Devon for Tour of Britain

Brighton’s Bicycle Ballet are bringing their show ‘the dance of cycling’ to Devon as a warm up for the Devon stage of the Tour of Britain.

The pedal pushers will be in Exeter on September 14 and in Exmouth on September 15.

In Exeter, those taking part in the morning workshop, which runs from 10am to 12pm, will create a routine for a central role in the lunchtime performance at 12.45pm.

The Dance of Cycling is a free 30-minute lunchtime show which celebrates the joyous, playful, chaotic and sometimes treacherous world of synchronised cycling. A fast-paced choreography containing striking imagery, visual spectacle and comedy, all backed by a sumptuous soundtrack.

All ages welcome and no experience is necessary, apart from a level of cycling proficiency – Bikeability / National Standard Level 2 recommended – plus the ability to count!

Participants will need to bring their own bikes and wear comfortable clothes they can move in, and all blue for the performance.

To book a place, call Exeter City Council on 01392 265200/5 or email: general.festivals@exeter.gov.uk See www.bicycleballet.co.uk or www.devontourofbritain.co.uk or www.exeter.gov.uk/cycletour for more information.

Meanwhile, here’s a film of what they got up to on Car Free Day 2006
