Responding to news that the largest unions in the country will ballot for industrial action over pensions, Public and Commercial Services union general secretary Mark Serwotka said: “This is very welcome news and shows that opposition is growing to the government’s raid on public sector pensions, and their assault on jobs, pay and public services.
“Following the hugely successful strike by civil servants, teachers and lecturers in June, there is a clear momentum behind our campaign that ministers cannot ignore or dismiss, and they must now enter into serious and open negotiations.
“We have always said that the more united we are, the harder it will be for the government to push through their ideologically-driven and damaging cuts.
“We will now join our colleagues from across the public sector to discuss the nuts and bolts of this fightback, which we fully expect will mean industrial action on a scale not seen for many, many years.
“This is not just a fight for public servants, we want fair pensions for all.”

Mark Serwotka earned £113,354 in 2010/11 as General Secretary of PCSU, much of that comes from public sector funding of unions.
Should the taxpayer really being paying for a bunch of out of touch militants to ruin to the economy and to strike as a means of coersion rather than as a last resort? I think not.
Wow, that’s paranoid.
