The change to the date of the change to the Feed in Tariff will affect both householders and local installers
A recent review of the Feed in Tariff (FiT) system has been published. The issue with the most immediate and direct effect is the decision to bring forward the deadline for qualification for the full current FiT rate for new installations from April 2012 to December 12 this year.
This will affect both householders and local installers. The lead-in time for most installations is about six weeks, this is going to be a highly punitive measure. The FiTs have helped to boost local work in solar PV in the SW, work which will now be put in jeopardy by this proposal.
Below is a link to a current petition to urge the government to re-think its December deadline to qualify for the full Feed in Tariff payment for small-scale household solar photovoltaic.
At Transition Newton Abbot we have been working with households to support them in installing PV systems. The current tariffs have proved an excellent incentive for householders, making the initial upfront investment do-able.
There are people who are currently waiting for their installation or looking at getting a system fitted who will be directly affected by this proposal.
Please sign the petition and let’s persuade the government to withdraw this proposal.
