Performance shares stories of the Blitz in Exeter

Exeter Blitz Project

Viva Voce has collected memories for the Exeter Blitz Project at The Bike Shed Theatre

It’s 70 years since Exeter experienced the worst of the Blitz during the Second World War, an experience which will be shared at The Bike Shed Theatre in the city.

Between 1940 and 1942 Exeter was blitzed by the German Luftwaffe 19 times. The worst raid took place in the early hours of May 4, 1942.

Viva Voce in collaboration with The Bike Shed Theatre, have created a theatrical blitz experience, which will share the real-life stories of those who experienced the Blitz in Exeter.

Viva Voce have interviewed over 20 people who were between the ages of 6 and 25 in 1942. The play is a testament to their extraordinary stories.

The Bike Shed Theatre will be raising money for Age UK Exeter throughout the run.

The Exeter Blitz project runs from May 1 to May 19 at The Bike Shed Theatre, Exeter. Shows are at 7.30pm with Saturday matinees at 2pm. Tickets are £10 (concessions £7) and are available online or by calling 01392 434 169.
