Thanks as always for coming over and checking out my latest article… however, I have to warn you not to get too close – as despite my best efforts to fend off the dreaded lurgy it sadly caught up with me last week and I’ve been feeling jolly rotten ever since (sniff sniff cough cough).

That being said, I had lots cool musical stuff happening before I got ill AND I’ve still got lots to look forward to when I get better (hurrah).

As mentioned in my previous article, we got round to making a little video about Tara (my lovely acoustic) and her fancy new CT4-DX pre amp which the wonderful peeps at Takamine very kindly sent me to road test.

If you fancy taking a look here it is:

So before I got the lurgy I had a gig with local singer/songwriter Nicky Swann. Nicky had a show case to perform up in Nottingham in front of a group of festival promoter type people and myself and Mr Paul the keys man accompanied her on stage.

Normally trips up to Nottingham take bloomin ages as you have to tackle most of the main motorways that always seem jam packed with the world and his brother, but on this occasion it was a pretty uneventful journey (other than the rather yucky weather of course).

raining weather

Yuck

The event was being held in a ma-hoosive hotel, which was also where we were staying the night.  We got settled in to our rooms and headed off to sound check.

Kartha cajon, sound checked and ready to go..

The guys operating the PA were so on the ball and it was lovely to have a quick and easy sound check with everything sounding superb.

Once sound check was over it was time to eat, drink and chill before the gig.

Band food… not all for us, sadly we had to share.

The evening went really well and was lots of fun. There were around five other acts on that night so it was cool to check out some other peeps as well as playing. Definitely the highlight of the evening was watching a guy called Tim Edey, who was not only one of the most amazing musicians I’ve ever seen but also the nicest guy ever.

Here’s him in action, see what you reckon:

The next day it was time to hit the road. Thankfully it was also a pretty easy trip back, complete with the most beautiful sunset.

So what’s next? Well, if you’ve checked out any of my previous articles you’ll know I’ve been waiting for something very exciting to arrive in the post… and a few days ago the wait was over…

Ladies and gentlemen… the VR3 has arrived!

VR3

The lovely people at Roland have sent this over to me to test out and review, and I can’t wait to show you guys what it can do. It’s going to be absolutely ideal for streaming online gigs.

Some come on peeps, send me lots and lots of ‘get better soon’ vibes, as I’m dying to get the VR3 up and running!
