Laughter Club launches in Dawlish

Dawlish laughter group

Every month Dawlish becomes host to some of the happiest people on earth – thanks to the Laughter Club upstairs at the Mount Pleasant Inn.

The Laughter Yoga club is back. Led by Dawlish woman, Sue Haswell, these social laughter events will be held on the first Thursday of every month, starting March 7.

Free to attend, and designed to be both a physical, mental and emotional exercise, the Dawlish Laughter Yoga Club is open to anyone, of any age or ability as there are no awkward poses, and it can even be done seated.

The session lasts for approximately one hour, and involves much laughter and hilarity, combined with deep yogic breathing and relaxation techniques. Sue Haswell, owner of Creative Laughter said: “On average children laugh around 150 times a day. Average adults will only laugh around six times.  When you consider the enormous benefits of laughter, it’s vital for us all to reconnect with our own laughter!”

Sue said: “Wear loose comfortable clothing in layers – laughter can make you very hot!  And just be prepared to find out and have a go – Laughter Yoga is about connecting with our inner child, releasing stress and enjoying the proven effects of laughter like: improving mood, reducing pain, increasing oxygen levels, reducing blood pressure, improving self-esteem, and releasing endorphins the feel-good hormones.”

Laughter Yoga was first invented by a Medical Doctor in India in 1995, and it is now a worldwide phenomena, with over 10,000 clubs in more than 70 countries. It has sparked the interest of John Cleese, Oprah Winfrey, Jessica Simpson and numerous other celebrities.

Sue trained with the Dr Kataria school of Laughter Yoga in 2011, and uses Laughter Yoga in her PR and training practice to engage creativity and stress management. She is now training other Laughter Yoga Leaders, and working in corporate and public sectors with laughter.

More information is available on www.creativelaughter.co.uk and anyone attending needs to book first, either by email: s.haswell@btinternet.com or online at Creative Laughter.
