East Devon Green Party today welcome the decision by East Devon District Council to call in the police to investigate allegations of corruption centred on Tory councillor Graham Brown.
East Devon Green Party policy officer Emily McIvor said: “The police need to view transcripts of his phone and text messages to other councillors and officers, as well as emails, dating back to at least 2009, to assess the evidence for illegal influence over planning decisions.
“We welcome the decision to call in the police, and we welcome the admission by Eric Pickles that laws may have been broken over councillors lobbying privately for planning applications in their own district council areas.”
