Rowcroft Hospice is set to brighten up the Bay with an explosion of colour and live music for South Devon’s first ever Colour Rush. All round the area people are getting ready for the summer event of 2013 and there is still time for you to join them.
Final preparations are being made for Rowcroft’s newest charity, the Colour Rush. At 1.30 pm on Saturday, September 7, runners will take to the beaches of Paignton and Goodrington in a 5k paint run which will be followed by a vibrant live after party.
The Colour Rush after party on Paignton Green features live music with bands and acoustic acts performing across two stages. There are also licensed bars in the arena including Bays ales, hog roast and other food stalls as well as two fairground rides. The party kicks off at 2.30pm as the runners return, goes on until 11pm and tickets can be bought for this without the run.
The event has secured some rising national acts, the likes of who are not often seen in the Bay, including headliners, We Are The Ocean. The party goers will also be treated to a selection of the best home grown talent including Moriaty, Triple Threat, Someday-I and Broken Compass. Jessica Matheson, one half of Broken Compass said: ‘We are honoured to be a part of the Colour Rush and be able to support Rowcroft Hospice. We respect all the passion and love they put in to helping and caring for their patients.’
Jordan West from Moriaty is embracing the whole event and said: “It’s such a great cause – so I am running and playing it. I can not wait!”
The event is the first of its kind for South Devon and Rowcroft hope that it will become one of the Bay’s most anticipated annual events.
Ric Yerbury, Rowcroft’s event manager said: ‘We wanted to stage an event that would appeal to a younger, wider audience and that was like nothing the Bay had seen before. The passion and commitment we are already seeing from this part of the community to support Rowcroft in its efforts to raise both funds and awareness is fantastic.’
Ric said: ‘The paint run offers participants the chance to have an immense amount of fun and you can still register online up to midday Friday. If that’s not up your street, why not come and watch them on the beaches and then join us for the party afterwards? Party only tickets can be bought online in advance or on the door from 2.30 pm on Saturday 7th September.’
Registration for the run closes at noon on September 6. For tickets and more information about the event, visit www.thecolourrush.co.uk
