 We were a bit remiss and forgot to remind you about International Women’s Day last week – but hey, every day is women’s day here at the People’s Republic (that’s quite enough of that – Captn). Anyway, Equality South West was, as we’ve come to expect, on the case and used the event to warn Hullo viewers, Thin White Duke here. We’ve had a lengthy email from a PRSD citizen called David Howard about our NHS story. He’s obviously gotta load of stuff to get off his chest – waaaay more than we have room for. Nevertheless, we’ve decided to post an abridged version below. The pro-discrimination lobby was unable to derail the laws earlier in the week. Christmas is coming, the Duke is getting fat. And so is Captn for that matter. But we’re not worried, for life is good here at PRSD towers. So fulla the festive spirit are we, that we’ve put together an alternative Christmas message for your delectation. Yes, you can choose between the mad old lady on BBC1, the moderate Muslim More than a third of citizens in the People’s Republic are determined to show how pinko they are this crimbo by buying ethical prezzies. That’s according to a survey by Friends Provident, the founder of the UK’s first ever retail ethical fund, Stewardship. There’s no Arthouse Roundup this week – apparently cinemas aren’t showing anything for a coupla weeks cos of a little thing they like to call Christmas. Stupid oafs! Five years into their career, and yet just 16 and 17 years old. No mean feat. Their music and playing style reflect the years of practice and development. A track like Woodstock shows their layers of musicianship, and confidence. Alex Lane on drums continually lays down a solid and, as required, varied foundation. James Stephens We at the People’s Republic enjoy a violent movie as much as the next person. Indeed, we were probably the only people in the entire world complaining that Eli Roth’s Hostel wasn’t gory enough. Nevertheless, we have a certain amount of sympathy for the region’s teachers, who have issued a call to local MPs to join them |

Something kinda eh?
We at PRSD are hearing all sortsa rumours about Girls Aloud playing in Plymouth on June 9.
According to the Plymouth Sound website (we only looked at it for ‘research purposes’ – honest!) ‘Girls Aloud are going to finish off their national tour with a gig at Newnham Park, near Plympton. Details to follow’.
