Carey in the community

To misquote whoever it was what sang it (Mariah Carey, perhaps), ‘I believe that people are the future.’ All of us do here at The People’s Republic of South Devon. If we didn’t, we’d open the curtains once in a while and, to quote what should be another Mariah Carey song, ‘Get a Life.’ So, it is with great joy that we celebrate the Bovey Climate Action group’s quick impact.

Determined to reduce Bovey’s carbon footprint, this group took matters into its own hands with its own initiatives. As one of the group told the People’s Republic: ‘We decided to get together and help each other as a community, rather than waiting for the Government to pass laws and tell us what we already knew.

‘We are already receiving enquires from other towns wanting to use our model to form their own groups. We are pleased to share what we have learned and to encourage others to do the same.’

You wanna do the same? You get in touch! Ain’t nobody gonna save the world for you people, as Mariah Carey once sang, maybe.
