Smokers wild

Bebo eat your proverbial heart out. These days, all the hip young gunslingers are ‘jamming’ at thisisexeter.co.uk (oh, and the PRSD, natch).
Their recent story about a smoking ban at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital is attracting feverish intellectual debate in the Your View section - rather like a particularly feverish episode of Newsnight Review.

Richie Pate from London weighs in first: “When lighting a cigarette at Liverpool Street station last year, I was swooped upon by a WPC who asked me to extinguish the offending smoke. We struck up a conversation, started dating and eventually married. Who says smoking is bad for you?!”

This bombshell sets off the site’s ‘easy story’ detector. Stuart Nuttall from the Express & Echo is the first on the scene: “Hi Richie, nice story! Have you an Exeter connection? If so you would you please contact me? Thanks.”

Then Chris from London pipes up: “Indeed smoking can be good for you. The art of smirting is well documented. The health fascists will never win.

But Simeon from London has, for now, the final word: “Congratulations, Richie. I shall have a fag in your honour!”

What’s with all these smoking Londoners logging on to this is Exeter? And, hey, Richie! Nice story - why not send us an email…
